A Pivotal Decision:

Alouette Fabric-Covered Valance!

Alouette Light Louvers are operated with a revolutionary pivoting headrail that is shaped like the fabric louvers. Some people prefer the optional fabric-covered valance which gives appearance of a more traditional headrail. It is available on all Alouette operating systems and mounts easily inside or outside the window opening using the same installation brackets as Vignette® Modern Roman Shades installation brackets.

A More Traditional Look
When Alouette® LightLouvers are installed with a fabric-covered valance, the look is more like a traditional shade or blind, as shown in the illustrations on this page. Note that, when the louvers are raised, the stacked louvers are not concealed within the fabric-covered valance.

How it Affects Installation
At the factory, the pivot pads are installed into the valance end caps and secured in place. At the customer’s home, the installer simply attaches the fabric-covered valance to the mounting surface using Vignette® installation brackets.

Retrofitting Existing Alouette LightLouvers
Existing Alouette installations may be retrofit with the fabric-covered valance (except inside mount bar systems and end mount applications). The ordered width of the valance should be the same as the ordered width of the installed Alouette LightLouvers.

When retrofitting, first remove the current installation brackets. Then secure the Alouette LightLouvers to the valance end caps and install the assembled unit using Vignette installation brackets. See this Retrofit Guide for complete details.  Note: that the length of the louvers will increase by 1/4" after retrofitting. Inside mounted LightLouvers will normally need to be shortened by that amount for proper functioning. Instructions for doing this are included in this excerpt from the Alouette Owner’s Guide.
