A 5¢ Adjustment
For Alouette
Light Louvers!

A Nickel is the perfect tool for making adjustments
to Tilt Bars On Alouette® Light Louvers

Alouette Tilt Bar Systems

Of the three operating systems for Alouette Light Louvers, two use a tilt bar to rotate the louvers.  With the Bar-Tab System (BTS) louvers are rotated for light control and privacy using a tilt bar at the side of the louvers. The louvers are raised and lowered using a lift tab which is contained within the tilt bar. With the Bar-Cord System (BCS) louvers are also rotated using a tilt bar but they are raised and lowered using a lift cord.

The Alouette tilt bar systems look great, operate easily, eliminate cords and provide greater safety.  All three systems, when properly installed and adjusted allow very good closure of Alouette's elliptical louvers.  If an Alouette tilt-bar system does not close tightly in both the up and down positions, this simple adjustment will usually fix it.

Good Closure
These louvers are closed tightly in the down position.  When you lift the tilt bar on a properly adjusted Alouette system, it should close just as tightly into the up position.

Not So Good
If in rotating the lovers in either direction does not provide complete closure, the tilt bar needs to be adjusted.

Typically this problem would be caused by the pivot bracket being mounted too high or too low.  The installation instructions call for the pivot bar to be installed three inches up from the bottom of the fully-lowered window covering with the louvers closed.

Rather than moving the pivot bracket, This simple adjustment should do the trick.  Also, there may be occasions in which an obstruction requires you to be at a different height. this adjustment will allow you to compensate for that.

Use a nickel to rotate the cam on the pivot arm connector. Rotate it about one-quarter turn so that the narrow part of the cam points upward.

With the headrail and louvers perfectly horizontal, slide the pivot arm connector up or down the tilt bar until the pivot arm is also horizontal.

Rotate the cam one-quarter turn to lock the pivot arm connector in position.

Check operation and re-adjust if necessary.

Best of all—when you're done you can put the nickel back in your pocket!
