What's This?

Dynamic Duolite!

Combine The Versatility of Duette® Duolite™
With The Great Function Of UltraGlide For
The Ultimate In Light Control

For great light control with a honeycomb shade, it's hard to beat Duette Duolite shades. Duolite shades operate in a similar way to Top-down/Bottom-up, but it uses two shade fabrics, usually a sheer fabric above and an opaque or semi-opaque fabric below. The combination allows the shade to go from fully sheer to fully room-darkening to fully open in seconds. Ultraglide makes it even easier than ever and eliminates the long and tangled lift cords that are necessary with the standard cordlock version of Duette Duolite.

Better Looking, Easy Operation And Safety
Duette Ultraglide makes it easier to operate Duette honeycomb shades. When combined with the Duolite™ operation it provides the ultimate in light control, too. The additional benefit of using the Ultraglide lift system with Duolite shades is that the cords always retract back to the same length, keeping them untangled and out of the way. It not only looks better, it enhances safety, too.

A Demonstration Will Prevent The Need For Repairs
With all the benefits of an UltraGlide Duolite shade, it can be a little confusing for your customer to figure out how to operate them.  So it is necessary to spend a few minutes with your customers to make sure they know how to operate them properly. Improper operation can result in repair work. Merely leaving the Owner's Guide/Installation Instructions for your customers to study really isn't enough. Spend just a few additional minutes to demonstrate operation soon after the shades are installed.  A good demonstration can prevent the need for repair due to improper handling.

Standard Operating Procedures For Ultraglide Duolites

• Ultraglide Duolite™ shades have two operating cords.

The right pull cord assembly operates the middle moving rail. It moves both fabrics at once.

The left pull cord assembly operates the bottom moving rail.  It should not be used to lift both rails at the same time.

• Keep the cord close to the fabric when raising or lowering the shade.

To Lower and Raise Duette Ultraglide Duolite Shades

• Move the left pull cord toward the center of the shade to release the bottom moving rail.

• Move the right pull cord toward the center of the shade to release the middle moving rail.

• Move either cord back to the original position at any time to stop the lowering of either rail.

• As with all Ultraglide shades, use short, straight, downward strokes to raise the shade.

Do not attempt to lift either rail of the shade with one or two pulls. This can damage the pull-cord assembly. Using short strokes is the best way to ensure that the shade will operate properly as long as it is in the window.

• To raise the shade all the way, ALWAYS use the right cord first to raise the middle moving rail completely.

When the middle moving rail is at the top, raise the bottom moving rail to the top or to any point between.

Be sure NEVER to be moving both rails by pulling just the right cord. If you do this, the cord inside the sheer will bunch up inside the sheer. The sheer fabric masks this a little, but if you look closely you'll see the cord bunching as shown in this picture. Under certain circumstances it is possible for this cord to become knotted.  If this cord is knotted the middle moving rail will become uneven and may need repair.

Other Lift Systems With Duolite
There are two other lift systems available for Duette shades with the Duolite option.

Standard cordlock Duolite shades should also be operated in the same order as stated above for Ultraglide.

LiteRise™ Duolite shades are available and recommended for shades that are completely within reach of a homeowner. LiteRise shades operate completely without pull cords. On LiteRise shades, the operating order does not matter as each rail is operated by its own system. For windows that are a bit out of reach, though, you'll want to stay with Ultraglide.
