What's This?

Some rooms obviously need additional backing for privacy.  But don't forget the Micropleat approach (more below). It allows you to change between sheer and opaque as needed.

Exploring Backing Options For
Provenance™ Woven Wood Shades

Create another dimension of light control for your customers with Provenance® woven wood shade by adding one of the color coordinating flat fabric opacity options. These options are available on all Provenance® shades. Designer Blinds offers four color choices in both light filtering and room darkening fabric in white, ecru, cocoa, and black.  Additionally a micropleat option allows for even more control.

Each privacy backing blends naturally with the exotic grasses, reeds, wood, and bamboo of all Provenance® woven wood shades. Control the sun with the new opacity option, protect your furniture and flooring while increasing light control and privacy. These shades are ideal for the bedroom, bathroom or anywhere you desire more privacy, increased protection from the sun or more light control.

  • Light filtering or room darkening fabric option in 4 color choices

  • Opacity option provides superior light control, privacy and year-round energy efficiency

  • Exclusive Lifetime Limited Warranty Hardware System

  • Tacked flat backing

  • Backing attached to top and bottom rails

  • Available on all shade types: standard, clutch, motorized, top-down/bottom-up, and angle shades

Flat Fabric Opacity Options:
The colors are chosen to coordinate with the shade.  You may also choose if you have a preference other than the standard.  The colors Cocoa, Ecru  and White are the same color front and back.  The black, however is black to the front and white to the outside to provide a consistent appearance from outside a home.  Each color is available in either light filtering or room darkening.  The light filtering option will provide sufficient privacy in most situations and allows the natural characteristics of the Provenance woven woods to shine through.  The room-darkening will provide better results in bedrooms and home theater rooms where maximized light blocking may be needed.

Since many of the natural grasses and woods that make up the Provenance collection cannot be stitched, the fabric backing is tacked into position as shown in the illustration below.  This is to allow the backing to operate in unison with the natural fabric in front and hold its position when the shade is down.

Micro Pleat Option
The micro-pleat opacity option provides a second operable shade behind the woven wood shade.  This allows you to attain privacy when you need it, but still have the natural sheer beauty of the woven wood shade when privacy is not needed.  Note that the micro-pleat shade has a cord, but does NOT have a working cordlock mechanism.  This is so it will fit discretely behind the Provenance shade.  Cord cleats must be used to hold the micro-pleat shade in position.

The often misunderstood Micropleat option truly allows you to offer your customer complete control over light without giving up the sheer beauty of the natural grass and wood fabrics in the Provenance collection.

By themselves, most of the Provenance shade fabrics are sheer or semi-sheer. If the windows you are covering are in a room that demands complete privacy,  the customer should order the micro-pleat opacity option. Micro-pleat shades are shallow depth, half-inch pleat pleated shades specifically made to be installed behind Provenance™ woven wood shades.  They are available in either light filtering (Twilight) or room darkening (Subdue).

Most woven wood fabrics do not provide complete privacy, this is especially true at night. This picture, taken from outside of a house at night, shows the difference between the three options that Micropleat provides.

There Is No Cordlock For Micropleat - Control Recommendation
Because they are of a shallow depth, micropleat shades do NOT have a cord lock. Instead, a cord cleat is required to lock the shade at whatever raised position is chosen. Cord cleats are included when micro-pleat shades are specified.

Micro-pleat shades are installed by attaching to a clip that is incorporated into the standard installation bracket, directly behind the shade. Micro-pleat shades can be installed with the cord on either side and changed any time by simply flipping the shade around.  To prevent the cords of the two shades from becoming entangled, install the cord of the micro-pleat shade to the opposite side of the cords on the Provenance shade.
