The Eyes Have It!

A Closer Look at Vignette® With PowerRise

Vignette With PowerRise has proved to be popular already since it was released just several weeks ago.  Read many of the details in this previous tip.  Upon release the built-in eye to receive the PowerRise signal was at the lower end of the end cap. Now this eye has been relocated to a more prominent position on the face of the fabric-covered vignette headrail on either the right or left side as shown above.  With this positioning, the eye will be able to receive the PowerRise signal from greater distances and at more angles from within the room.

Use the Built-In Eye, Or Add A Satellite

As with other PowerRise products, Duette® and Silhouette®, The built-in eye for Vignette (above left) is useful for most rooms and most applications.  It can receive a signal from as far away as 30 feet. If you are using a top-treatment, though, you would want to install a satellite (above right) in order to operate the shading.  The satellite eye simply connects to the end cap of Vignette with PowerRise.  The wire lengths available for satellite eyes are 20-inches, 4-feet and 8-feet. For high windows, a satellite eye may be easily angled downward to better receive the signal.

Daisy Chaining
By using the optional AC Transformer, you can eliminate changing shade batteries for PowerRise products.  Daisy Chaining allows up to three shadings to be linked together using a single AC transformer.  With Vignette is The final connections are made with the shadings installed in the window for easy installation. Three wire lengths - 15”, 5’ or 8’ - are available.

Vignette with PowerRise will be available June 1, 2005 in single panel standard and single panel EveScape shadings only. It will not be available in our multi-panel or Two-On-One Headrail options. Also, it is not possible to add PowerRise to Vignette shadings in the field.

Basic daisy chaining, as shown above is easy. However, when using the daisy-chaining option, it is recommended that wires be routed behind the wall for a more finished look as shown below. You will probably want to hire someone experienced at "fishing" wires behind a wall to achieve this more finished look.  Computer cable installations services, electricians, home theater system installers and alarm system installers are good resources to help you conceal the low-voltage wire.
