Now Longer and Wider Than Ever...

Make It Big
With Alouette
®!

New options allow Alouette Light Louvers to be bigger than ever! Longer drops, wider widths, tandem side-by-side application and new magnetic hold downs mean you can score big with your customers, too.

Longer Louver Lengths!
Now you have the opportunity to cover longer windows with the Alouette Bar-Cord System (BCS). This gives Alouette the length you need to cover larger windows and patio doors. Previously, the length was limited to 78-inches for the Bar-Cord System.  Now, for this system only is, as of June 1 it will increase to 96”. The Bar Tab System (BTS) will remain limited to a length of 72-inches.  The Cord-Cord System (CCS) is still available in lengths of up to 120-inches.

Second Pivot Bracket Required Over 78-Inches
In order to stabilize bars for longer drops, the bar needs a second pivot bracket. We have enhanced the pivot brackets for these longer bars. So, for all shades up to 78”, they will have one pivot bracket, as they do today. For BCS shades longer than 78”, they will have these two pivot brackets.

Since the BTS is only available up to a length of 72-inches, there is only one pivot bracket, so no changes are necessary in BTS installation.

To install the longer bars start with the bottom bracket at the standard 3-inch mark, (3-inches from the bottom of the shade) then simply install the second pivot bracket at the midway point of the bar.

Wider Widths, Too!
Alouette is now available in wider widths. A new center support bracket provides the opportunity to cover windows as wide as 96 inches on either the BCS (Bar-cord System) or the CCS (Cord-Cord System).

Both of these systems were previously limited to a maximum width of 84-inches.

Front Face Cords
Widths over 84” will now have front face cords. The front face cords support the product keeping the louvers straight in their 8ft expanse. Front ladder cords are evenly spaced out up to every 31-inches.  So at the maximum width on BCS and CCS, an Alouette system will have will only have four face cords.

Center Support Brackets
It is necessary for units over 84 inches wide to use a center support bracket which is placed in the center of the opening. Both top and rear mount brackets available.  Both brackets will be sent out for every applicable order, so you can use whichever mounting technique works best in any given situation. The center support brackets and bracket covers are always white.  They can be painted if needed.

Recommended installation…
Install the installation brackets as you would normally. Measure half of the ordered width starting from the tilt side, outside edge of the bracket to center.  Mark that halfway point. That mark or line is always the right side of the bracket which centers the hook. Install the bracket but do not drive the screws in tight. This will give a little left/right adjustment (3/8”).  Install the shade as you normally would and tighten the bracket screws and install the center support bracket cover.

Tandem Side-By-Side - Two louver panels tilt in unison and lift independently

Another new system allows even wider widths.  The new Tandem Side-By-Side application is available only on Alouette with the Bar-cord System (BCS). It is great for
sliding windows' patio doors, large expanses, and side-by-side Applications.

The two panels tilt in tandem as one unit using a tilt bar. Yet they raise and lowering independently.  Both panels must be the same fabric and color.  Each panel has a minimum width of 12-inches and a maximum width of 72-inches.  Panels do not need to be same same width, but each panel must have the same drop length.  So the overall maximum width is 144” (72” each panel) x 96” drop.

With this system, the gap created when putting two standard louver panels together is only 1/8-inch.  Two Alouette systems installed nest to each other could have a gap of as much as 1 ¼-inch.  On tandem side-by-side, the gap between panels  The louvers nearly appear to be one unit. This is a huge improvement—a 90% reduction in gap!

Louver alignment tolerance is ¼” when tilted in the closed forward position. This is similar to Silhouette vane alignment and other laddered products. Typical cord variations are expected. Function may vary when one panel is raised due to size/weight.

The Tandem Side-By-Side panels will be installed using a support bracket between the two panels. Orders will include both top and rear mount brackets and covers. And these covers are available in white only.

To order
Tandem Side-By-Side, first determine the overall width. Then determine which panel will have the tilt bar. The tilt bar shade will have a the lift cord next to the tilt bar. The other shade can have the lift cord on either side however it will default to the outside of the shade. These are priced as two panels and there are no surcharges.

Installing Tandem Side-By-Side
Installation is similar to the wider widths with center supports described above.  Install the installation brackets as you normally would. Measure and mark tilt side to the ordered width size of the panel, mark the point. That mark or line is always the right side of the bracket which centers the hook. Install the bracket but do not drive the screws in tight. This will give a little left/right adjustment. Install the first shade as you normally would. Start with the tilt side shade first which is the non-pivoting side. Join the two shades and tighten the bracket screws and install the center support bracket cover.

Magnetic Hold-Down Brackets
One more new innovation that is now available with Alouette Light Louvers is magnetic hold-down brackets.

Available on all pivoting operating systems except Tandem Side-By-Side applications. The hold-downs must be requested at time the Alouette order is placed. No retrofit is available. Inside mount requires ¼” deduction from bottom rail. There is no surcharge for magnetic hold-downs.

Magnetic hold-down brackets are perfect for French doors because they prevent louvers from swaying in a slightly breezy, open window.
