What's This?

It's Nature's Way!

Natural Characteristics Make Every
Provenance™ Woven Wood Shade
A Unique Work Of Art.

The Finest Natural Materials
Hunter Douglas Provenance Woven Wood Shades are made from the finest natural products: select woods, reeds, grasses and bamboo materials in various combinations make up the many different selections of the Provenance line.  Naturally, these materials contain variations in color and hue and differences in grain and texture. It is not unusual for some patterns to contain knots and slight surface cracks. Here are some things you want to be sure to discuss with your customers before their orders Provenance woven wood shades are placed.

The Grass Is Always Greener (Bamboo, Too)

Some grass and bamboo fabrics may appear to be a bit green at the time of installation. This should be expected.

Bamboo and grass fabrics will age slowly to more of a beige/brown hue.  Some variance from you sample book should be expected.

Additionally, paint and yarn variations are present in all woven wood fabrics. To ensure the best color match, shades mounted in the same room should be ordered at the same time.  Even then, variations are possible within the same order. This is particularly true of bamboo materials.

Getting Out Of Line...

Due to the natural materials used, and the purposely loose weaves, perfect alignment of slats may not always be possible.  Due to the variable weight of woven wood materials, some shades may stretch slightly over time. On inside mount installations, they may eventually touch the sill. Measuring recommendations are the same as for all other shades, always round down to the nearest eighth-inch when specifying the width and height. It is not unusual for fabrics used in Provenance woven wood shades to have a slight bow or camber.

Provenance shades are built from the bottom up.  Fold alignment may vary slightly even on shades of the same height. The bottom fabric panel is 6" in height. Panels above have cord rings spaced at 10" apart. When the shade is lifted, these panels form 5" folds.

Outside Looking In...

Most woven wood fabrics do not provide privacy on their own, especially at night when the balance of light is inside the home. If the application requires complete privacy, choose one of Provenance's opacity options.

Micro Pleat Option
The micro-pleat opacity option provides a second operable shade behind the woven wood shade.  This allows you to attain privacy when you need it, but still have the natural sheer beauty of the woven wood shade when privacy is not needed.  Note that the micro-pleat shade has a cord, but does NOT have a working cordlock mechanism.  This is so it will fit discretely behind the Provenance shade.  Cord cleats must be used to hold the micro-pleat shade in position.

Opacity Liners
If you prefer privacy at all times, choose an opacity liner instead of the micropleat shade.
