Raising The Bar!

Improved Bar system now being used for Alouette® Light Louvers Bar-Cord System (BCS) and Bar-Tab System (BTS)

New, Stronger Connection!
An improved bar attachment for both Alouette bar systems, BTS and BCS is now being used.  This new design features a key and slot type engagement to ensure a stronger and more reliable connection than the previous flexible spring attachment. Please note, the new bar attachment cannot be retrofitted to Alouette Light Louvers using the previous system.

This enhancement was implemented on January 5, 2005.   To ensure installers are aware of the change, a Bar Attachment Instruction Addendum will be included with the Installation and Care Guide. Additionally, there will be a hangtag (right) attached to the bars of the BCS and BTS units, informing the installer of the change.

BASIC PROCEDURE:  Fit “Key”Into“Keyhole”
The tilt bar connector has a key-like profile and the end cap on the headrail has a similarly shaped hole. The tilt bar can only be inserted and removed from the headrail when the orientation of the “key” and “keyhole” match. Hold the tilt bar at approximately a 20 degree angle to the end cap to fit the connector into the hole, as illustrated below.

BCS (BAR-CORD SYSTEM) PROCEDURE
Install Tilt Bar After Mounting the Headrail

Unpack the Alouette® LightLouvers and set aside the tilt bar.

According to pages 5 -11 in the Alouette Installation and Care Guide, attach the installation brackets and install the headrail. Complete the headrail installation by installing the bracket covers.

With your hand, tilt the headrail to the fully closed forward position and hold it
there. With your other hand, insert the tilt bar connector into the keyhole. Once fully engaged, the tilt bar will freely rotate down to the vertical position.
Next, attach the pivot bracket. (Page 15 of the Installation and Care Guide)

BTS (BAR-TAB SYSTEM) PROCEDURE
Install Tilt Bar After Mounting the Headrail

Unpack the Alouette LightLouvers and attach the installation brackets
according to page 5 in the Alouette Installation and Care Guide.  Carefully free the tilt bar from the double stick tape on the headrail.

Install the headrail into the brackets. The tilt bar will dangle from the
headrail, but should not fall. Install the bracket covers. (See page 11in the Installation and Care Guide)

With your hand, tilt the headrail to the fully closed forward position and hold it
there. With your other hand, insert the tilt bar connector into the keyhole. Once fully engaged, the tilt bar will freely rotate down to the vertical position.

Align the connector with the keyhole. Be careful not to twist the lift cords. Insert the connector into the keyhole.

Next, attach the pivot bracket. (Page 15 of the Installation and Care Guide). Align the connector with the keyhole. Be careful not to twist the lift cords.
