Once You Know The Difference
You "Wooden" Want
It
  Any Other Way!

Hunter Douglas wood blinds are custom crafted from 100% genuine wood. Each piece of each blind is a unique work of nature.  Each individual piece of wood tells the story of it's natural history...the weather... how the tree grew... and other environmental factors.  Learn to read the grain patterns and other variable features of wood and you'll learn how to identify that piece of wood's life history.

Recognizing Wood Characteristics

The beauty of wood lies in a variety of natural elements.  These include distinctive grain patterns, natural color variations and distinguishing marks.

These elements confirm the authenticity of the wood used in Hunter Douglas Blinds.

What is Grain?
Grain is the direction and regularity of the wood fibers. It can vary widely depending on where it was cut from the tree. The type , direction and density of the grain produce the unique patterns and variations that make each piece of wood and each blind unique.  It is normal to have varying grains from slat to slat, and a completely unique look for each blind.

Pin Knots
The remnants of branches encased by the growth of new wood

Mineral Deposits
Usually the result of environmental circumstances affecting the development of the tree.

Burl Figures
Formed by irregular growth on the outer surface of the tree.

Try Getting "Knotty" When You
Want Even More Variance.

The woods used for Country Woods Select™ Knotty Pine wood blinds are chosen to capture as many of the natural characteristics of wood as possible.   The presence of knots, mineral deposits and grain pattern will bring your room alive with the beauty and warmth of the great outdoors
