Setting Tension Is nothing you need to be Tense
About.
The universal cord tensioner is used with
a wide array of products that are operated with clutch
mechanisms. The main purpose of the cord tensioner is
to provide safe, one-handed operation of cord loops
and prevent them from becoming a strangulation risk to
children. It is NOT an option to leave cord
tensioners unattached. This increases the safety
risks associated with unattached looped cords.
Unattached tensioners are also inconvenient as they
will require two handed operation for products that
can easily be operated with just one hand.

There
are multiple ways to attach cord tensioners for both
inside and outside mount applications. Each method is
described in the Cord Tensioner Installation Guide
that comes with shades and shadings that require a
cord tensioner. Some methods require using the inside
or outside brackets provided. Or, for inside
mount applications the tensioner may be attached with
just a screw as illustrated below. No matter
which method is used, it is important to be careful
not to pull the tension overly tight. When the
tension is set too tight, it makes the shades or
shadings harder to operate and can lead to broken cord
loops.
