Getting
It Straight
Leveling of rails for honeycomb shades is easier than ever with pockets & ferrules.
This approach to leveling has previously been available only for
upgraded products like UltraGlide and PowerRise. Now it is
used on all standard cordlock operation shades as well. The
pocket adjustment has some advantages over the previously used
stopball equalizer approach to leveling the bottom rail:
-
With pockets & ferrules, the adjustment is made at the rail itself, where it is easier to see the change that needs to be made.
-
On shades with three or more routs,
leveling with pockets can save a considerable amount of
time. With the old method keeping the cords straight on wider shades can be
quite a challenge.
-
The pocket leveling provides an ample
amount of adjustment even for wider shades. With the
old method, there were limits to the amount of cord that
could be wrapped inside an equalizer cover, so on wider shades, the length of cord provided
was insufficient to easily make adjustments.
Don't
Leave Them Hanging
Adjustments are needed occasionally to account for out-of square
windows. One great advantage to having this adjustability is
that there is enough flexibility to fix minor measuring
mistakes. After the rail has been leveled, the cord should
be cut flush with the ferrule. Leaving the cords dangling
from the bottom rail is unsightly and unnecessary. Once the
shade has been leveled is is unlikely to need further
adjustment. If it does, the good news is that the old way,
the stopball equalizer, is still there and can be used for minor
adjustments.
Making
The Adjustment
Any necessary adjustments are made by sliding the ferrule up or down on the cord to change the height and level of the bottom
rail.
-
Locate the ferrule seated in a
pocket on the bottom rail.
-
Pull on the excess cord to
remove the ferrule from the pocket. The cord will be wrapped once around the ferrule.
-
Unthread one loop of the cord
by pulling it through the ferrule to move the position of the ferrule.
-
Slide the ferrule along the cord to
change the length of the shade and to level the bottom rail.
-
After adjusting, lock the ferrule
in place by threading the cord through the top of the ferrule to
create a loop that wraps around the ferrule.
-
Make sure that the loop fits in the groove
on the side of the ferrule.
-
Place the ferrule back into the pocket on the bottom
rail.
Make sure it is seated fully.
-
Trim the cord to be flush with the ferrule and bottom rail
once you are certain of the final adjustment.
