Don't Be Sunk By
Depth Charges!
Avoid costly mistakes on Country Woods® Reflections and EverWood X-tra, by being sure to check windows for appropriate depth for inside mount window treatments

One of the most frequently neglected measurements is a simple one --the depth of the window.  This is particularly important for products that require additional depth in order to operate, like Country Woods® Reflections™ or EverWood X-tra™ blinds. These products have slats that are deeper than the headrail, so they MUST have additional space behind the headrail in order for the slats to operate.  Without this space, the vanes won't tilt because they will be blocked by the window itself.

Spacer Blocks --On An Inside Mount?
The best way to ensure operation is to use spacer blocks behind the bracket.  This is an especially nice spacer block because it snaps on to the bracket.  Designer Blinds includes spacer blocks with all inside mount orders of Country Woods® Reflections™ and EverWood X-tra™ blinds. If you measure and specify window coverings for someone else to install, make sure they expect the spacer blocks to be included and know to use them. If you should find yourself in a situation of installing either of these products without spacer blocks, simply be sure to leave a gap of 3/8" behind the installation bracket.  READ MORE HERE

Make Your Customer Happy:
Give Them What They Want  (But Not Necessarily What They Ask For).

Many times dealers try to please the customer's wishes rather than "listening" to the window.  Learn to let the window "do the talking" when making decisions on how to cover it.  Remember that it is not always practical to do an inside mount.  In some narrow-depth casement windows it is ill-advised to force a product in.  At-best, you'll end up with a "rigged" installation.  In these cases, it is usually best to go to an outside mount.  No matter how much a customer wishes her windows were deep enough to accommodate an inside mount Country Woods® Reflections™ blind--the wishes won't change the fact that the blind needs room to operate. So do your customer a favor by letting the window be the key factor in making these decisions.

But be sure to listen to what the customer is telling you.  For example, if she is telling you that it is important to have the wood trim showing on a casement window —maybe wood blinds aren't the answer.  She may want a Silhouette® window shading, but doesn't know to ask for it by name.  Suggest a Silhouette® shading that can be stacked completely off the window so she can completely enjoy the wood trim, but still have privacy when she needs it. With no vertical lines of any kind or cords, even on windows up to 96" wide, Silhouette shadings in the three-inch vane size provide an even more dramatic "soft-shutter" appearance.  Remember that Silhouette window shadings do everything that wide slat wood and alternative wood blinds do —only better.  It may be just what your customer is asking for when they want you to do something that isn't possible with other products.

Silhouette® —It May Be The Perfect Solution!
