The Means to Justify The Ends

Making Sure End Treatments Hang
Straight on Luminette® Privacy Sheers®

When hanging a Luminette Privacy Sheer, it's important to make sure that the ends hang straight —unlike the picture shown here.  The end treatments are attached with Velcro® to the Swivel Plate.

By following these simple steps you'll be sure to have Luminette Privacy Sheers hanging perfectly every time, right from the start.

Attach Swivel Plates and End Treatments  Last

The end treatments are the first and last vanes, which are not attached to clips in the SofTrak™ system. Attach the vanes between the end treatments before attaching the swivel plates. After connecting all the vanes, attach the end treatment swivel plates to the rivets. The rivets are attached to a swivel arm at each end of the SofTrak™ system.

The swivel plates are right and left specific and are marked with a L or R for easy identification. Swivel arms are used on both sides of right or left stack tracks —not on the center vanes of split stack tracks.
As you unpack the sheer, you will find the swivel plates attached to the Velcro® on the end treatments. After the track is installed, separate the swivel plate from the end treatment. Push up lightly on the rivet. Then snap the clips onto the rivet above and below the swivel arm, as shown.

NEW:
Beginning in August 2001, the Velcro® is molded into the Swivel Plate rather than just attached with a strong adhesive. This assures a permanent attachment —even in the most extreme temperatures and humidity.

Attach The Fabric End Treatment to the Swivel Plates.

Once the swivel plates are attached, bring the Velcro® tab attached to the fabric of the Luminette end treatment in line with the Velcro® welded to the swivel plate.  Your best bet to get a good straight vane alignment is to start with the end treatment about an eighth of an inch above and in line with the swivel plate. Press the two sides of the Velcro® together.  Then stand back and see how it looks.

The best look will be to position the end treatment to look good with trim on the window, an adjacent wall or any other nearby vertical room feature.  Since these features are likely to be slightly "out of square," this may mean compromising between a perfectly straight end treatment and an end treatment that looks right in the out of square room.

Final Adjustments

To make adjustments, separate the Velcro® strips holding the end treatment to the swivel plate. Then reposition the end treatment according to these guidelines:

Raise the end treatment
to move the bottom away
from the center of the sheer.

or...

Lower the end treatment
to move the bottom toward
the center of the sheer.

Repeat the adjustment as
necessary until the end
treatment hangs straight.
