Hunter Douglas hard-wired motorization systems from Designer Blinds offer almost limitless opportunity.  But when installing them, it's important to understand how to set the upper and lower limits of the shade or shading are set. It is the same simple process for Duette, Silhouette and Vignette motorized shades or shadings.  The pictures here show the adjustments being made to a Duette shade.

Factory Settings

Most often you will not have to make any adjustment to the limits since they are preset when the product is assembled.  Designer Blinds advises, though, that upon first running the shade or shading after installation, it should be watched closely to make sure that it stops where it is supposed to, both at the top and the bottom. The settings are adjusted the same way for switch control or remote control products. Improperly set limits can cause damage to the product.

Making Adjustments

Setting the limits is a simple process. At the right side of the product, where the motor is located, there are two buttons, one yellow and one black.  On Silhouette and Vignette the buttons are underneath the right end cap.  On motorized EasyRise Duette honeycomb shades, though, the headrail needs to be partially released from the brackets, as shown here.

Black Button Sets The Lower Limit...

The black button sets the lower limit.  To set the limit run the shade to a position slightly above the lowest position the shade or shading is to be in.  Depress the black button with a small flat-blade screwdriver until you hear a click.  The button will stay in a recessed position.

Then replace the shade back fully into the brackets (if it is a Duette shade).  Run the shade to the exact position you wish to have set as the lowest position for the shade.  Release the headrail partially from the bracket (Duette only).  Press in again on the black button with a flat blade screwdriver.  The button will release to its original normal position.  The lower limit is now set.

Yellow Button Sets The Upper Limit

Setting the upper limit is accomplished in much the same way.  Raise the shade or shading to a position just below fully stacked.  Release the shade from the brackets (Duette only). Depress the yellow button with a flat blade screwdriver.  Again, you will hear a click and the button will remain in a recessed position.

Replace the shade into the brackets (Duette only) and run the shade slowly to the uppermost position.  Be ready to stop the motor at the upper position.  Don't stack it too tightly.  It is important to leave a small amount of slack If a Duette Shading is stacked too tightly, it can cause the lift tapes to break and the shade will have to be returned to Designer Blinds for repair.  If a Silhouette or Vignette shading is pulled too tightly to the top, it could cause damage to the shading or to the motor.

When the shade or shading is stopped in the upper position, release the headrail partially from the brackets (Duette only). Press in again on the yellow button with the flat blade screwdriver.  The button will release to its original normal position.  The upper limit is now set and your customer is ready for years of reliable performance from motorized Hunter Douglas window fashions.
