Figure 1: Extension brackets can also be used to end mount the headrail when conventional inside or outside mounting techniques will not work – for example, in an arched window opening. The mounting surface for the extension brackets must be at least 1¼ " deep.

Figure 2 - Figure 2 The extension brackets are mounted at the desired height with their long sides pointing toward the center of the opening.

Extension Bracket
End Mounts

At right, in Figure 1, is an approach to mounting Silhouette® window shadings using an end mount technique for which the bracket is attached to extension brackets, which are attached to the right and left side of a window opening.

This technique can be used with other products, too, even though it may not be shown as an option in the Reference Guide. Other products that might occasionally use this approach include:

·        Duette PowerRise, EasyRise, EasyGlide, UltraGlide

·        Lightlines or Decor Blinds

·        Any Product with an “over-the-rail” mounting bracket

Stuff To Keep In Mind...
When doing this sort of an installation, a minimum of 1¼ depth is required to fit the extension bracket in place. Only the thick extension bracket used with Duette and Silhouette products can be used.  An additional headrail deduction of 11/16” (just short of  ¾”) must be taken to accommodate the thickness of the brackets plus the screws.

The maximum width that should be done this way will vary from product to product.  The point at which 3 brackets are required for each product is the maximum size that should be done this way.  for most products, this is around 40” – 45”.

For Duette or Pleated Shade with PowerRise only — the bracket on the side of the shade that has the motor will hold the rail in place just fine, but if the shade is to be removed from the window, the bracket must be broken and replaced.  Your customer needs to know this up-front and it would probably be a good idea to request an extra bracket from Designer Blinds to have on hand if the shade needs to be removed  when you place your order— just in case.

Specify "Extension Bracket End Mount"
A Specialty End Mount Bracket is used with standard Duette Originals and Applause shades.  – but will not work with PowerRise™, EasyRise™, EasyGlide™, UltraGlide™, LiteRise™, or Manhattan headrails.

To eliminate confusion, be sure to specify “Extension Bracket End Mount” when ordering end mounts for any of these products.
