The Shape Of Angled Windows With Duette Shades! Duette® shades allow complete light control, even on most specialty shaped windows. On angle top windows, Duette shades allow the window to maintain the integrity of its shape whether the shade is open or closed. The diagrams at left show how to stack the fabric into the angle when drawing the shade. First, pull the cord in the usual way to draw the shade up to the bottom of the fan portion of the shade. Then, by grasping the lift cords above the stopball or equalizer separately the shade is pulled into the angle for a complete stack. Many times customers will ask for a “top-down” angle top shade. What they don’t always realize is that the angle portion would always show and the shade would not be able to fully stack at the bottom. This is because the headrail is wider than the side to side width measurement in any angle top configuration. When they realize that by using this simple technique they will be able to stack their shade in a small space at the top of the window, they usually see that this is the best option for them. On inside mounted shades with longer cords that are out of reach, specify that they be made with the double lift cords and an equalizer rather than the stopball. By removing the equalizer and letting the bottom of the window frame serve as a stop for the bottom rail the shade can be manipulated into the stack from any portion of the double lift cords. This is an important feature to consumers, who often search for ways to “have their window and cover it, too.”
